Sunkissed Ruffle Bodice Top

Finding short sleeved shirt patterns for little girls is a CHALLENGE! So many of the patterns that are available are sleeveless or have spaghetti straps. I wanted to have a few short sleeved tops in LA's wardrobe this season, so I realized that I was going to have to draft my own pattern. Well, sortof...

I had purchased a top for LA that was just adorable on her. It fit her well so I used it to create my own shirt pattern. Then, I started to modify to (as they would say on American Idol) "make it my own."

I have now dubbed this pattern the "Lily Anne Shirt" (real original I know).

This is view B (see, it sounds more "professional" when you have different views!). The inspiration was the top below (click for link). I liked the ruffle on the bodice, but the price--not so much.

Instead of elastic on the sleeves, I used a coordinating fabric.

I also added a little piping to the ruffle line to give it more emphasis. I love the fabrics! They are both from Moda's Sunkissed line.

The back is constructed the same way as the front--just minus the ruffle and piping. It is closed with pearl snaps (much faster than buttons and perfect for this size neck opening).

(Please ignore the wrinkles...lots of rolling, hugging and playing happened during this photoshoot!)
